Melissa King Had an Epic "Quarantine Birthday" in Her Top Chef Season 18 Bubble
The Bravo's Top Chef winner, currently on the judging panel for Season 18, had a hotel room celebration complete with an "awesome" balloon display and a specialty cocktail.
As production is underway on Bravo's Top Chef Season 18 in Portland, Oregon, with extensive safety measures in place, Melissa King managed to have an epic birthday celebration from the comfort of her hotel room.
"How Top Chef quarantine birthdays around here," Melissa – who is part of Season 18's rotating judging and dining panel – captioned an Instagram Story video showing a colorful balloon display placed outside her hotel room door. "Requesting a rainbow balloon arch to walk through everyday while on set from now on. This is so awesome!"
In addition to balloons, also including letter balloons spelling out her last name in gold and a balloon that read "Happy Birthday," Melissa received multiple gorgeous floral arrangements for her special day.
The Season 17 winner also made the best of her surroundings when it came time for a celebratory drink. "Making spicy mango margaritas," she captioned a photo. "In a hotel ice bucket." Later, Melissa concluded her day with a luxe bath complete with a pink "birthday bomb."
Melissa recently shared a glimpse of life on set in Portland with a few fellow alums Kwame Onwuachi, Carrie Baird, and Amar Santana, who will join her on the judging panel next season. "The beautiful smiles that come out when you’re a [Top Chef] judge, not a contestant. Love my TC family it’s going to be a great season," she captioned a photo of the group enjoying some time outside. "Disclaimer: we are under extreme quarantined together, tested multiple times a week, wear mask every second outside of this photo, are in a bubble within a bubble within a bubble to ensure the safety of the show."
