Meet the Real Shelter Pets of Atlanta … And Then Go Adopt One!

We are spilling the tea on all of Atlanta’s cutest adoptable pets.

By Stacy Lenz

The Real Housewives of Atlanta are inspiring. They embrace all life has to offer, from public service to Mystery Husbands to naming our houses to writing songs with Ed Sheeran — they do it all. And much like bringing Kim Zolciak-Biermann back livened up this season, we too are inspired to bring a little life into our Real Shelter Dog series- we’re bringing in cats!

Today’s fierce felines and dapper doggos come to us from the Atlanta Humane Society. They have been dedicated to animal protection and welfare for over 140 years and are committed to finding homes for all adoptable pets. Atlanta obviously attracts stars, as evidenced by our Housewives, but because of that star draw AHS is sponsoring Georgia’s Cutest Pet Contest. You can submit your pets’ photos for calendar stardom. Don’t have a pet you say? Start by adopting one of the featured pets below, bring them home to your very own version Chateau Shereé, Moore Manor, Lake Bailey, etc., and you’re on your way to pet calendar stardom.

And now meet your Real Shelter Pets, complete with opening credits-worthy taglines!

“No botox, just brains and bountiful energy.” Trent

Trent is a handsome one-year-old male German shepherd mix who loves to give hugs and go for long walks. He loves to “sit” and “lay down” for yummy treats, and is the smartest dog you’ll ever meet! He would prefer a home without cats or small children, but he would love to meet your current dogs and spend forever learning to love you and your family!

“Age is just a number, but these whiskers are timeless!” – Cordele

Cordele is a senior kitty looking for his forever home! He’s a 13-year-old dapper gentleman with a lot of spunk and a heart of gold. This sweet guy has diabetes, but his condition is easily managed with daily insulin and a special diet. He gets along with everyone he meets, and he’d love to be your cuddle buddy forever!

Some people may get catty, but to them I say, get a cat.” Ziggy Stardust

Ziggy Stardust is a four-year-old beauty looking for love! This active, playful girl currently resides with other cats in our community rooms, so she gets along well with other felines. She was brought to the Atlanta Humane Society when her previous family moved and couldn’t take her with them, so she’s in the market for a new family to call her own! Could it be yours?

“Life is about choices. Choose Lily.” – Lily

Lily is a four-year-old beauty who would love to spend forever with you! She gets along well with other cats and would love to get to know your current felines. She’s a loving, playful girl who knows how to strike a pose for the camera, and she is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

“Who gon pet me, boo?” – Ani

Ani is a four-year-old mixed breed dog who would make an excellent cuddle buddy, and she will sit right in your lap with her head on your shoulder. She has excellent leash manners, is housebroken, and loves to sit for tasty treats. Ani would prefer a home where she is the only dog, so come meet this princess today!

“Why be so nasty and so rude when I can be so fun and so playful.” – Alfred

Alfred is a super friendly two-year-old Labrador mix. Alfred would love a huge yard where he can run and play alongside any canine friends in his new home. This active guy needs exercise, so he would love to be your running buddy! Alfred is extremely eager to please, and he is house trained, crate trained, and knows a few tricks too!

Anyone looking to adopt should visit to find out more about these amazing animals. All adoptions are completed in person at one of their two convenient Campuses located in West Midtown Atlanta and Alpharetta.
