You know how they say that when you go to the shelter to adopt one cat, you end up going home with three?
No one actually says that, but we get why Drew Barrymore couldn’t help but do exactly that when she recently visited a shelter. In an Instagram post, the actress stated that she had initially planned on adopting only one cat, but ended up getting three — one for herself, one for her five-year-old daughter Olive, and another for her three-year-old daughter Frankie.
The female kittens are named Lucky, Peace and Fern, and Barrymore has labeled them part of her #girlgang. In the post introducing them to the world, Barrymore posits that maybe she is a crazy cat lady. In a following post, she offered another image of her cradling a cat in the 1980s as supporting evidence.
We say, you’re not a crazy cat lady, Drew Barrymore, you’re just an animal lover! Along with the kittens, Barrymore has a dog named Douglas, who was rescued from the San Fernando Valley. In a December post with Douglas, Barrymore encouraged people to support the ASPCA, especially in the wake of natural disasters that have struck California.
We wonder if Barrymore couldn’t help but take her own advice about helping pets in need, and that’s why she adopted so many kittens? In any case, it’s always nice to see a celebrity with such a good heart. We’re imagining Barrymore beaming in a pile of kittens as we write this.
