The Real Housewives of Orange County’s new trailer just dropped and we are counting down the days until we can take in all the psychics, divorce drama and surprising amount of pratfalls the season 13 has to offer. While we are busy California (Real Housewives) dreaming, we can focus on the next best thing — California Real Shelter Dogs.
The dogs featured today come from the northern part of the state, the Rocket Dog Rescue located in the San Francisco Bay Area. They are a volunteer-based organization dedicated to saving homeless and abandoned dogs from crowded animal shelters. The rescue dogs stay in temporary foster homes while they are socialized, vaccinated and rehabbed while the rescue searches for each dog’s perfect forever home.
And now meet your Real Shelter Dogs, complete with opening-credits worthy taglines!
“I speak no evil, but I do sit, lie down, and roll over.” - Harrison
Meet Harrison, nine pounds of snuggly cuteness; this playful terrier mix is about 2-3 years old. He is a very sweet dog that loves to cuddle, enjoys training, puzzle toys, and likes playing tug-of-war. He’s good with people and children, though he is a bit shy at first. He’s a quick learner, and knows sit, stay, down, and come.
“Walks and treats are nice, but my happiness starts at home.” - Rosie
Rosie, five years old, is the type of friend who motivates you to be the best version of yourself. Her athletic build and love of walks will keep you in great physical shape, and her love-of-life attitude will keep you sharp mentally as well! She is a lot of dog — about 85 lbs (and could definitely lose a few of those pounds!) — but she is 100% pure love. You will get back every ounce of love and effort you give to Rosie.
“I’m an expert on luxury, and I can always spot the perfect sunny patch to lay down in.” - Saki
Saki is a happy, healthy and stunning 3.5-year-old mix of Akita and pit bull. She's a love bug who likes to snuggle on the couch with her people, and engage in “sing-alongs” around the dinner table. After an energetic play session, she can easily pass out in a sun spot for the rest of the day. She’s also game for longer play sessions or walks. Saki is easy to please — some belly scratches, a comfy dog bed, and a good treat and she is a happy girl.
“Belly rubs come at a cost, and I’m willing to pay.” - Petey
While he may be the namesake to Petey from the Little Rascals, this Petey isn’t much of a rascal. He’s a social butterfly and, just like in the movie, he gets along amazingly with people. Petey’s a smaller pittie and is already four years old so you know he’ll stay the same size. Being a gentle guy, Petey just wants to cuddle.
“When life gives you tennis balls, put nine in a bowl!” - Paisley Mae
I’m a generous-sized girl with a huge heart. I’m around four years old, weigh 80 pounds and I’m a total couch potato and hang-out girl. I also avoid too much sun — don’t want to get a sunburn! I’d love a home that is laid back just like me with people who like to take a leisurely walk and then watch a show or read a book together — so if you’re chill and like that in a companion, check me out.
“You don’t have to be a bargain hunter to love this two for one special.” - Nacho and Chico
These two are a bonded pair; so really, it's like getting a bonus dog! Although we found Nacho and Chico left in a Tupperware, this dynamic duo has so much more to offer the world. These two are both approximately four years old and, while they won’t make the best running partners, they’re sure to be great lap dogs. Nacho (tan) is a sweet love that just wants to be in your lap all the time. Chico (black) is a big sweetheart that thinks he’s a German Shepherd trapped in a Chihuahua’s body.
