It’s that time of year again. The time of year when you can tell your loved ones, “Can you be quiet? I’m trying to watch the Puppy Bowl.”
For the fourteenth year in a row, the Puppy Bowl will air on Animal Planet on Super Bowl Sunday — this year, it falls on February 4. Beginning at 3pm ET/12pm PT, the most adorable puppies you’ve ever seen (except for last year’s puppies) will face off in a chaotic tumble for treats.
Because of the popularity of the only game that matters on Super Bowl Sunday — and yes, we’re talking about the Puppy Bowl — Animal Planet has also added a Dog Bowl, which will air on Saturday, February 3, at 8pm ET/ 5pm PT. Contenders include a mixture of celebrity dogs and rescue dogs, including Rufus the Pug, Hamilton the Pug and Chloe Kardoggian. More mellow (but no less loveable) than the younger contenders, the dogs who are competing hail from 15 shelters in 11 states, and range in age from 2 to 15 years old.
The Puppy Bowl will also feature a number of babies rescued from areas struck by national disasters in 2017, including Puerto Rico, Houston and Florida. In total, Team Ruff and Team Fluff were recruited from 48 different animal shelters and rescue organizations spanning 25 U.S. states and territories. As always, the puppies are up for adoption.
To get viewers psyched up, Animal Planet released this year’s line-up. And let’s just say — it got us psyched up! The puppies are so cuuute oh my god. Contenders include a Chiweenie, a Coonhound, a miniature poodle, a Pit Bull, a Goldendoodle, and a Shar Pei … we could go on and on. Just check out these faces for yourselves.
Should we go on? Do you have time? Just check the full starting lineup out for yourself, trust us. And when the puppies hit the gridiron ... errr, the bone-shaped Geico stadium, there will be plenty of winners out there next month. All of us watching!
