Scheana Shay Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop Making out with Robby Hayes… But Don’t Expect it to Go Any Further
What’s up with those guys you don’t want to date… but you can’t stop locking lips with?
Chances are we've all been in a situation like Scheana Shay and Robby Hayes. There's this friend, ex, or someone who falls somewhere in between who we've kissed (or done more with) in the past, and sometimes when we see this person again, we want to continue doing that in the present.
Now, it's not a problem when both people are single and able to take the kissing part at face value without wrecking the underlying friendship, and it seems like this former couple is able to do just that.
The Vanderpump Rules SURver and Bachelorette alum were recently spotted hanging together in Las Vegas, and rumors started swirling that the two were actually dating. Scheana later cleared up what is actually going out between the two of them with Us Weekly.
"We’re neighbors, so it’s like super easy to hang out or fly to Vegas together, whatever," Scheana explained. “We hang out a lot, but I don’t know, there’s something about, like, being in other cities with him and then we just end up making out.”
Making out with someone you like releases oxytocin, which makes us feel more connected to that other person. Plus, there's a reason why hotel sex is better than at-home sex, and why so many people have vacation flings, so she could be onto something when she says it's something about being in a different city that causes this canoodling.
Biological anthropologist Dr. Helen Fisher explained to VICE, "I think it's intrinsic... we aren't the only animal on the planet that kisses with an open mouth. Chimpanzees have kissed a person; an elephant will put their trunk into the open mouth of somebody that they're courting; all kinds of birds will tap their bills together; other animals lick the entire face, look at dogs. We do it too."
(Note: The Real Housewives of Potomac's Karen Huger did say her husband, Ray, “tongued me down” so perhaps it was because of science?)
Anyway, kissing is fun and relatively low pressure (compared to sex), and Scheana also shared that she thinks Robby is a "good kisser" and "hot." If both parties are single and into it, and can do so without catching feelings or going further than they want to, hey, why not?
“[We] just can’t super, super cross the line,” Scheana added. “That didn’t work out so well last time. We just make out when we’re drunk.”
If you find yourself in this situation (or wanting to be), follow these rules to keep your friendship on lockdown after your lips unlock.
