Tom Sandoval Shares an Update on His Sobriety Journey
The Vanderpump Rules cast member opened up about his decision to take a break from alcohol.
Tom Sandoval is continuing his sobriety journey by recently hitting a milestone: He has gone 50 days without alcohol, according to TMZ. The Vanderpump Rules cast member celebrated the accomplishment with a slew of Instagram photos from his recent concerts with Tom Sandoval & the Most Extras, highlighting the successful turnout at the shows. “Thank [you] so much everyone for coming to the shows! They’ve been so much fun [and] such a blast,” Tom captioned the Instagram series. The post also shared a snippet of the TMZ interview in which he told the outlet how music has “really helped” him get through “some really dark places at times.”
Tom Opens Up About Taking a Break from Alcohol
According to E! News, Tom first opened up about his “break from alcohol” during a May 4 Tom Sandoval & the Most Extras concert. While onstage at The Space in Westbury, New York, Tom took a moment to speak to the crowd. “It’s been one month since I’ve had my last drink of alcohol,” the Schwartz & Sandy’s co-owner shared. “I’m just taking a little break [from drinking] for a second.”
Tom revealed that the beer he had onstage was nonalcoholic before clinking his drink with a fan’s. “Cheers,” he said.
Tom is not the first Vanderpump Rules cast member who’s made the decision to quit drinking. Notably, Lala Kent has been sober since October 2018.
Lala Kent on Her Early Days of Sobriety
The Give Them Lala owner opened up about her sobriety in 2019 on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen (clip above). “I didn’t get sober till October 22, the best day of my life,” she said, at that point six months into her sobriety journey.
Andy Cohen then asked Lala how she stays sober while hanging out with a crowd that’s known to enjoy a cocktail or two. “I take it one day at a time,” she said. “There are moments that I’m like, ‘Oh, I could really use a bottle of vodka right now.’ But now I have the tools to make it through those moments. And I know that there’s no other way for me to live.”
Lala Kent Is Four Years Sober
A few years later, in 2022, Lala celebrated four years of sobriety. On her special day, she shared a bubbly salute to her incredible achievement on her Instagram Stories. “Thank you for making [four] years of sobriety f-cking fantastic,” she wrote over a photo that showed several cans of Perrier water on her nightstand. “Thank you for calming my nerves. Thank you for helping me through tough days. Thank you for helping me get buck wild. I love you.”
Katie Maloney applauded Lala in her own Instagram Stories on Lala’s milestone day. Sharing a photo montage of herself and Lala, Katie wrote that she was “so incredibly proud” of her friend. “Love you madly,” she added.
