See Dolores’ Surprising Reaction to Frank Catania's Engagement News: “Are You Serious?”

“Frank is more ready to be a husband now more than he was 30 years ago," admitted Dolores. "He had his boats and his hoes."

Marriage proposals come up again for Dolores Catania, but this time there’s a very sweet twist.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of New Jersey Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo and stream next day on Peacock.

On an upcoming episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, airing Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo, Dolores’ ex-husband, Frank Catania, pops a major question to her at a party: Is she OK with him asking Brittany Mattessich to marry him?

“Oh, that's beautiful. I’m perfectly OK,” said Dolores in a preview for RHONJ Season 14, Episode3, as she hugged her ex while boyfriend Paulie Connell smiled. “And I couldn't be happier for you.”

Frank was delighted, saying, “Are you serious?”

Dolores was totally serious about her joy for the couple: “We love Brittany. We love her for you.”

Are Dolores and Frank Catania friends?

It’s been 26 years since Dolores and Frank, who have two kids, Gabby and Frank Jr., ended their four-year marriage and finalized their divorce. They’ve remained key players in each other’s lives since then and have built a strong friendship.

On Episode 3 of Season 14 of RHONJ, Dolores said, “He had his boats and his hoes. He makes no qualms about the man he was during those times, but he grew out of it.”

She added her belief that “Frank is more ready to be a husband now more than he was 30 years ago."

“He has lived 10 lives, frankly,” she said.

Whatever chapter he’s living, Frank maintained that Dolores is part of it.

“When something big happens in our life, I’ve always picked up the phone and called her,” he said. “I got a serious thing coming up now.”

At the birthday blowout, Frank told his ex-wife that he’d already discussed the “big” topic with Gabby and Frank Jr., who were on board and curious if he’d covered it with their mom.

“I said, 'No, but I want to tell her.' I just want to make sure that you’re gonna be perfectly OK with it," he explained.

That’s when Frank dropped the big news about his plans to propose to Brittany in Costa Rica.

“While we’re there,” he explained, “I was thinking about getting engaged.”

Dolores beamed at the thought.

"Oh that’s beautiful,” she gushed. “You’ve been together a while now, and it’s time. I want to know that you're taken care of. I want to know that somebody's there for you. I want to know she’s a good person, and she is.”

Frank was relieved: “I feel better now.”

“Enjoy every second of it,” said Dolores. “It's special.”

(Frank made good on his plan. Brittany had a bridal shower in April that was attended by Dolores and fellow Jersey 'Wives Melissa Gorga and Rachel Fuda.)

Frank did joke that he was surprised he was getting engaged before Dolores.

Paulie, meanwhile, brought up a fact of life that’s come up before on Season 14 of RHONJ: He can’t propose marriage until he’s divorced.

No-nonsense Dolores, who’s now working again as a real estate agent, made a simple statement about Frank proposing and her plans to remarry.

“One’s got nothing to do with the other,” she said. “I’m so happy for you.”

Keep up with Dolores and everyone in her life on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, airing Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo.
