The Backyard Envy Team Just Designed a To-Die-For Outdoor Living Room
The exterior design experts created a luxe space for the whole family atop a previously barren NYC rooftop.
The Backyard Envy trio was back at it last week, making the al fresco dreams of clients Jen and Will come true — and making us green with, well, envy! Looking to reinvent their barren rooftop that was rife with dangers (not to mention lots of water tower eyesores), the couple turned to Garrett Magee, James DeSantis, and Melissa Brasier to create a place that would extend the same ambiance inside their home outdoors. Oh, and they were really hoping for a place for Jen to practice yoga, too. Shouldn’t be too hard to make it happen, right?
Well, because the space was a rooftop, it turned out that the bulk of the furnishings had to be custom built on the roof. Like, whoa. Want to see how they managed? Click here to see the full episode!
Spoiler: The end result was pretty much the outdoor living room, dining room, kiddo play space, and zen yoga deck of our dreams.
But luckily, there was no shortage of inspiration in the episode. So, while we couldn’t pinpoint the exact furnishings the design team used to outfit the rooftop, we did find nearly identical pieces that give off the same easy, breezy, luxurious vibe. (Minus the built-ins... you’re going to have to call Melissa for those stunning white oak platform sofas!) Just like Marie Kondo is inspiring us all to tackle our closets, the Backyard Envy team is making us very eager to redo our lifeless outdoor areas.
