João Franco Confirms What Would Make Him Step Away from His Life as a Captain
The Below Deck Med yachtie opens up about his career as a captain at BravoCon 2019.
ICYMI: Below Deck Mediterranean's João Franco is living out his dream as a captain of his own charter boat after stepping away from Season 4's season finale as a bosun. He has since given fans a glimpse of his life in his new role on charter and looking good in his captain's uniform, we'd like to add.
João was among the Below Deck yachties who found themselves on dry land at BravoCon 2019 last weekend, and it was there that he offered an update on his career move.
"I'm loving it. It's more difficult than when you get into that position... and it's [about] managing people," he told the crowd, noting that the role requires you to gain the respect of many kinds of people from all kinds of backgrounds. "A lot of people are older than you or younger, and you have to try work on how to deal with people culturally," because he noted that the people who step onto a crew don't always share the same experiences as him.
Which brings us to the key question: would he ever bosun again for Captain Sandy Yawn? "Absolutely," he said, because she "can teach me something every day."
At the panel, João also celebrated another big achievement outside of his life as a captain. He just marked one year of romantic bliss with his girlfriend. “[It's going] very well, thank you," he noted.
