Captain Lee Regrets Firing This “Sweet” Below Deck Alum

Captain Lee Rosbach discussed his biggest Below Deck firing regret with former chief stew Kate Chastain.

When it comes to making sure his Below Deck crew is shipshape, Captain Lee Rosbach is truly the stud of the sea.

The longtime Below Deck cast member has never shied away from making changes to the crew — even if that means booking a plane ticket home — but he does wish one alum had more time on the boat.

During BravoCon 2022, BravoTV.com correspondent Kate Chastain (who worked alongside Captain Lee for seven seasons) asked the five captains in the Below Deck franchise which crew members they most regret firing.

Captain Lee shared his answer first.

“Yeah, I really regretted having to fire [Andrew] Sturby,” the captain says in the video above. “Because he was such a sweet kid… He tried so hard, he just couldn’t close the deal.”

Kate interjects, “He just left that porthole open while we’re underway,” and Captain Lee confirms, “That was a major faux pas,” referring to the moment when the Season 2 deckhand left an Ohana porthole open in his room, which led to flooding.

Does Kate Chastain Miss Being on Below Deck?

Andrew certainly wasn’t the first Below Deck crew member to get the boot, nor was he the last. While fans can expect to see crew changes on any given season of Below Deck, Captain Lee teased that the upcoming 10th season of the show will feature something very unexpected.

“Season 10 is… you’re gonna see me do something I’ve never done before,” Captain Lee teases. “You’re going to see something that’s never, ever happened on any Below Deck series ever.”

Catch a preview of the new season, which premieres on Monday, November 21, at 8/7c on Bravo, below.
