Kate Chastain Just Moved Into a "Much Larger" Apartment in NYC's West Village
The move comes just weeks after the Below Deck chief stew announced her departure from the show.
2020 is proving to be a year of drastic change for Kate Chastain.
Weeks after announcing that she would not be returning to Below Deck, the former chief stew revealed in an Instagram post that she has moved into a new apartment in New York City's West Village neighborhood. In the adorable photo, Kate sat on the floor with her dog, Halo, who looked to be a bit unnerved. "Halo is in absolute SHOCK over all the space in our new, amazing, much larger apartment," she captioned the post. "(But also the groomer cut his bangs off so that might just be what his eyes look like in real life.)"
While many commenters flooded Kate with congratulatory notes, one couldn't help but criticize her floors, writing: "Who ever did the base boards in your house should be ashamed." In response, Kate seamlessly defended the home while shutting down the hater. "Pre-war hardwood floors give charm and character to life," she wrote. "Posting unnecessary negative comments on a stranger’s Instagram does not."
After six seasons on the show, Kate confirmed her departure on February 17. "After many months of reflection and internal discussions, I have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new land based role," she wrote at the time, with a joking reference to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's statement announcing their decision to step down as senior members of the British Royal Family. "I intend to step back as a senior member of the Below Deck Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support His Majesty Andy Cohen.”
Luckily, as she gets settled in her new apartment, Kate doesn't have to head far for a quick bite she knows and loves. In December 2019, she shared a photo to Instagram from the legendary NYC establishment Joe's Pizza's original West Village location. She captioned the post at the time, which featured a plain cheese slice of pizza sprinkled with crushed red pepper flakes, "Living. The. Dream."
