When my husband and I moved into our home, we finally felt like adults. Backyard? Check. Driveway? Check. Entertaining friends amidst ample space—instead of squishing everyone into our previous 800-squre-foot city abode—really sealed the deal. Here we were able to actually enjoy conversations with different people in different rooms, instead of yelling over one another in a too-cramped kitchen.

It was at one of these get-togethers, when my husband started taking drink orders—a vodka tonic here, a Tom Collins there. He attempted to cobble them together using two Solo cups as a shaker and strainer, a teaspoon for mixing, a freebie pint glass from a bygone vacation as the mixing glass. Our kitchen counter was suddenly drenched in vodka, and well, the whole thing was a mess. Not that our guests cared in the least (they were halfway to drunktown, after all), but we were annoyed. We’re adults! Adults should have the right barware!

So we did what all card-carrying adults do and headed to Amazon.com the next day. Much to our pleasant surprise, stocking our bar with the basics was affordable—cheap even! So now I’m here to do the same for you (just like we saw in this week's Cyrus vs. Cyrus Design to Conquer). Below is a checklist of the ten must-haves every at-home bar needs, and if you purchase every single item, you’re clocking in at under $150. Not too shabby. The best part? No more searching your kitchen drawers for a utensil that will suffice as a muddler when your guests request a mojito.
