Aaron Carter Questions Brother Nick Carter's Sincerity to Him Following DUI Arrest
The family's tumultuous relationship is aired out in public (again).
Aaron Carter's second arrest for marijuana-related offenses occurred Sunday in Habersham County, Georgia. According to PEOPLE, the singer was arrested for driving under the influence, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug-related objects. His struggles with drugs include a 2008 arrest for marijuana possession and a 2011 stint in the Betty Ford Center.
"To my brother: I love u no matter what & if u feel the need to reach for help, I am here and willing to help you get better," his brother, former Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter, tweeted following Aaron's arrest.
In a statement also posted to Twitter, Aaron contested his DUI and questioned his brother's sincerity of reaching out via social media.
“If my own blood truly cared about my well-being, why wouldn’t he call me directly and have a conversation instead of making this about him through a very public forum? That’s not cool at all to use me for his PR and kick me while I am down. I love my family despite it through thick and thin.”
But Nick may not have had Aaron's current phone number; his wife Lauren Kitt Carter tweeted Aaron to ask him for it.
"Hey @aaroncarter have @itsmadisonp text me your new number since you changed it again!"
Aaron is still promoting a July 18 meet and greet and new music preview event in Birmingham, Alabama.
