Ashley Graham is Bringing Back This Retro Workout Just in Time For Summer
The body-positivity champ shared her favorite ways to exercise.
Ashley Graham is revered for her work as a model—she's got the look, all right. But, the Nebraska native is equally applauded for her work as a body activist. If there's anyone who champions body positivity, it's Ashley, and that's a major theme in her brand-new memoir, the aptly titled A New Model.
After a reading in New York, Ashley chatted with Vogue about how she's used her own body to enact change. "I’ve used my body as a tool to talk about taboo subjects, such as cellulite or being insecure about lower belly fat," she told the mag. "And I know the lives that have been changed: young girls and even women my age who have written me and said, 'I never loved the skin that I was in until I heard your journey.'"
Ashley's journey to self-love has included prioritizing her health, and she uses exercise as a way to stay physically fit and mentally sound. The model will readily admit that she needs some motivation when it comes to workouts. "I’m the kind of person who needs someone telling me what to do, otherwise I go run on the treadmill for 10 minutes, and I’m like, 'Whew, that was such a good workout!'," she told Vogue. (Same, Ashley.) So, to push those workouts past the ten-minute mark, she relies on a crew of ace trainers.
Ashley's favorite workouts include circuit training and weightlifting at the model-adored Dogpound; like Gigi Hadid, she also loves to put on her boxing gloves and duke it out at Gleason's. She also just dusted off her old rollerblades, and gave them a whirl in Prospect Park earlier this week. How'd that go? "I think this summer I’m going to start rollerblading a lot more," she shared.
