The idea of combining creamy, fatty cheese with sweet ingredients is hardly news at all, c'mon: Cheesecake exists for a reason. But combining bold, nutty, and pungent blue cheese with smooth, sweet honey? Now that's a combo we can't get enough of — for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even dessert. That's why Bravo has teamed up with the Lay’s Do Us a Flavor campaign to find a delicious, inventive flavor pairing perfect for your next big snack session. We're rolling out five flavor mashups throughout the week, giving you the chance to vote on the one you'd like to see two Top Chef cheftestants cook with in our first-ever LIVE Top Chef Quickfire Challenge.
One of our new favorite pairings has roots that go way back, to French traditions of snacking on fresh bread with moldy cheese and raw honey (and a glass of wine, of course). Closer to home, the combo also has origins in Buffalo, New York, where everyone's favorite chicken wings often get paired with blue cheese dipping sauces tinged with honey.
This deliciously creamy, sharp flavor mashup is going beyond just toasts and hot wings — chefs are loving the sweet and savory duo for everything from ice cream loaded with veined cheese and sweet clover honey, to fresh dinner salads with sweet-and-salty dressings.
No matter how you combine these two ingredients, one thing's for sure: It's pretty hard to beat the flavor fireworks this dynamic duo offers.
So vote for the flavor combination you want to see Top Chef cheftestants use in our first-ever LIVE Top Chef Quickfire Challenge, streaming on Facebook and Bravotv.com on Thursday, March 2.
Vote now, vote often, and don't forget to tune in!
