Celebrities Get Their Hot, Fit Bodies By Doing These Exercise Routines
Break a sweat like these 5 celebs
Rumor has it: the camera adds 10 lbs. But, if you’re an in-shape celebrity, chances are you’re lifting more than that on a regular basis.
While stars practice varying routines—whether it is with a personal trainer, in a yoga studio, or as regulars in a boutique fitness class—they often make great strides (ahem, literally) to stay svelte. Of course, their goals differ, as well. Some actors are looking to lose pounds while other artists are doing their best to achieve six-pack abs for that album cover photoshoot.
There’s no doubt that having an idolized body takes determination, focus and practice. And consistency, too. Though the summer season will come and go, these stars strive to maintain a beach body throughout all seasons.
If you’re looking for motivation—or to imitate these exercise routines—pack a water bottle, hit the gym, and get ready to sweat like these five celebs.
Ellie Goulding at Barry’s Bootcamp
At the Miami Beach Barry’s Bootcamp studio, the Still Falling For You singer is a huge fan of instructor Derek DeGrazio’s class. Goulding even taught part of the one-hour session in 2015. During 25-30 minutes of high-intensity cardio and 25-30 minutes of strength training, attendees use treadmills as well as resistance bands and free weights in a dark, red-hued room. Class costs $30, depending on the studio’s location (there are almost 40 worldwide).
Sofia Vergara at SLT
With Top '40s music blaring for 50 minutes, SLT is the New York based studio fitness class that takes place on a megaformer. Cardio, strength training and Pilates combine during the $40 class. When Vergara gets her sweat on, she doesn’t linger at the venue. The super lively Latina actress comes in solo, multiple times a week for the full body workout.
Michelle Obama at SoulCycle
When former FLOTUS is looking to burn calories and stress, she clips into a bike at SoulCycle in DC’s West End. For the high intensity total body workout with sprints and climbs, Obama’s instructor of choice is Kate Champagne aka Kate C. The $30 class is 45 minutes and includes a range of tunes from pop to hip-hop. Unfortunately for us normal-folk, secret service men and women are not provided.
Kate Hudson at The WALL Fitness
In Los Angeles, the signature 1-2-3 stack class at The WALL Fitness is Jason Wimberly’s 10 minute core activation, 20 minute high intensity circuit training, and 30 minute indoor cycling session. The three-module 60-minute class was created by the personal fitness trainer and is a favorite of actress Kate Hudson, who participates in the “no sit-ups” approach to strengthen her core.
Lorde in Personal Training with Allison Kimmel
When Royals singer Lorde (real name: Ella) wants to look as good as she sounds, she counts on personal trainer Allison Kimmel to keep her in shape while on the road. Exercising everywhere—from hotels to rooftops, pool decks to dressing rooms— the two are often jogging, and fitting in workouts before hair and makeup for an evening show. The full-body exercise program usually entails a dynamic warm up, a ton of stregnth training and HITT. Kimmel routinely instructs the 20-year-old to complete single arm cleans with 15 lb dumbells, step ups on benches with 10lb weights, 60 second squat pulses, and lateral leg lifts into cursy lunges, among other exercises.
