Nail-biting just got a lot tastier (and tipsier).
If a glass of sparkling wine and a fresh manicure is your ideal way to end a week, it's your lucky day. Science has just created a way to combine both these joys into one truly bizarre hybrid: edible prosecco-flavored nail polish.
The nail polish, a creation of Groupon UK—yes, the same people who provide you with liquidated bedding and discounted brunch—is a festive shimmery gold shade and contains real prosecco.
"Combining our love for manicures and prosecco, this nail varnish is made with real prosecco and smells and tastes just like the real thing. With a delicate gold luster, this lick-able polish looks exquisite, giving you the fun of the flavor without a sore head the next day,” Groupon UK shared on its website.
The polish is said to be edible, with "zero calories," but does contain items other than prosecco, such as propylene glycol, sodium saccharin, and potassium aluminum silicate. There's also a warning on the site that says, "Extremely flammable. DO NOT DRINK." So...you might want to think twice before taking a lick. But if you have a habit of nibbling on your nails during the day (no judgments), your fare might be a little more palatable.
We're still not convinced this isn't some kind of weird early April Fool's trick. Unfortunately—or fortunately—the prosecco polish will only be sold to those with a valid UK mailing address, and won't be available until May. But don't worry; if you're bummed out that you can't get your hands on a bottle, try drowning your sorrows with a glass or two of actual prosecco. That should perk you right up.
