Elisabeth Moss Shuts Down a Fan's Misconception About Scientology
The comments come just as Leah Remini shined a new light on their current relatonship.
Elisabeth Moss is definitely feeling the love in the wake of the success of The Handmaid's Taleand she was certainly quick to celebrate it on Instagram this week as she readies to see if the Hulu series can take home any of the 13 Emmys it's up for at the September show. But one fan decided to use her celebratory Instagram post to ask the Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series nominee a question about her affiliation with Scientology.
"Love this adaptation so much,” an Instagram user who goes by the name moelybanks wrote in the comments section. “Question though, does it make you think twice about Scientology? Both Gilead and Scientology both believe that all outside sources (aka news) are wrong or evil… it’s just very interesting.”
Elisabeth then responded to the fan, attempting to shut down what appears to be a misconception about her religion. “That’s actually not true at all about Scientology. Religious freedom and tolerance and understanding the truth and equal rights for every race, religion and creed are extremely important to me. The most important things to me probably. And so Gilead and THT hit me on a very personal level. Thanks for the interesting question!" she said.
This is how the fan responded:
However, the actress' affiliation with Scientology has definitely become a hot topic, with Leah Remini recently commenting on it in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "Elisabeth Moss believes that she can't talk to me," the former Scientologist told the publication. "She isn't allowed to talk to me. And me knowing that, I wouldn't put her in the awkward position."
