As soon as the season changes, we're looking for a complete style metamorphosis. And a trip to the salon is the quickest way to feel like a new person—or a little more like your favorite celeb. From rose- gold tresses to platinum blond locks and the trippy hidden rainbow hair that's blowing up Instagram, here are trendy new styles to try for fall.
1. Rose-Gold Locks
When we think of rose-gold locks, Sienna Miller—who started sporting the style at the British Fashion Awards in 2013—springs to mind. Now, the English rose is rocking the hue again, and stars like Ashley Tisdale have also dabbled in it.
2. Going Platinum
We admit: we had to do a double take when Kylie Jenner went platinum blond. (Is that you, Kim circa 2015?) We have to say, though, we're digging the look on Kylie. It also looks great on our favorite Scream Queen, Emma Roberts.
3. Chunky Braids
For fall, Christian Siriano showed off dramatic suits, chunky knits, and even chunkier braids. Gigi Hadid also rocked a thick braid while making the rounds at New York Fashion Week.
4. Pigtail Buns
After seeing this cheeky trend on fashion bloggers and on model-actress Cara Delevingne, we were temped to play around with these '90s-style buns. But, they don't need to stay high atop the head to be au courant for fall.
5. Two Low Buns
For Dior's Ready-to-Wear Fall/Winter show, models sauntered down the runway wearing two neck-grazing buns. "The look has a bit of a nod to the 1920s but in an unconventional way, giving a more youthful feel to an ‘older’ hairstyle," said Redken's Global Creative Director Guido Palau in a statement.
6. The Lob
Kim Kardashian West is constantly changing up her hairstyle. She's tried it all—including platinum blond—but it was the lob (or long bob) she debuted this summer that had us ready to book our fall appointments.
7. The Half Bun
Still going strong for fall, this is the "half up, half down" style you remember from your youth—but with a modern spin. Take a cue from actress Kate Mara and spiff up your lob with a mini bun at the crown.
8. Natural Color
Busy people rejoice! Going back to your natural color is de rigueur at the moment thanks to MILF star Chrissy Teigen. Celebrity Hair Extension Specialist Priscilla Valles posted a snap of Chrissy captioning it, "back to natural color," while giving props to hair colorist Tracey Cunningham for the darker, more natural hair vibe.
9. Tons of Texture
Give that smoothing serum a rest! On the Fall/Winter 2016 runways, Zac Posen, Missoni, Diane Von Furstenberg and Louis Vuitton all showcased textured hair.
10. Hidden-Rainbow Hair
If Lisa Frank is your spirit animal—and you're looking for something a little bolder—check out this "Hidden Rainbow Hair" thing that's all over Instagram and Tumblr. It's a versatile style, as it's hidden in the lower layers of hair—so you decide when and where you want to let your true color shine through.
