Gordon Ramsay Would Approve of This Idea for a Downton Abbey Cooking Show Spinoff
With Mrs. Patmore as host, naturally.
Viewers of Downton Abbey often see the character of kitchen matriarch Mrs. Patmore (played by Lesley Nicol) order around her assistant cook Daisy Mason (Sophie McShera). The two actresses are quite friendly in real life and had a good time thinking about how their characters might be were they to have their own cooking show.
“Well, it would be very different because we’re not culinary geniuses,” Lesley told Vulture at a celebration for the new Downton Abbey exhibition in New York City. “It would be marvelous and we would hark back to the olden days, because they’re a good team. Mrs. Patmore was a proper cook.”
Sounds like something straight out of The Great British Bake Off (which is currently planning a celebrity version) — at least in Sophie's mind, because she told Lesley that she wouldn't be able to shout at her if they had a cooking show. But Lesley had other ideas.
“Gordon Ramsay, I would! I would be yelling just like him!”
