Calling All West Coasters: You Can Fly to Hawaii for $361. Seriously.

Because all of our end goals are really the same: Hawaii.

By Courtney Thompson

There are many places in this world that are nice to visit, but they’re not necessarily bucket list-worthy, ya know? For instance, I’ve traveled to a lot of Caribbean islands and when friends ask how it was, I answer honestly, “It was great—sun, fun and fruity cocktails.”

Hawaii, however, is not one of these islands. Hawaii is a must. Hawaii is the epitome of bucket list destinations. When a friend asks how a Hawaiian vacation was, it’s impossible to sum up the islands’ many attributes—the juxtaposition of lush greenery atop rugged black beaches, the volcanic rocks with the sapphire-blue ocean breaking on them, the Disney World-esque cleanliness of everything. Hula dances! Buuuut, Hawaii is also expensive. So much so, that many don’t make it there in their lifetime, simply because it’s too costly and too far away.

Which is why its big news when affordable airfare to the Aloha State crops up—you simply have to take advantage of it, because that price is certainly fleeting and because, it’s Hawaii. Duh.

So, here’s what you need to know about this current deal: United is offering flights from a handful of major west coast cities—Portland, Seattle, Sacramento and San Diego, among them—to all four of the big Hawaiian airports (Honolulu, Maui, Kauai and Kona) from August through the end of the year (excluding holidays) starting at just $361. If you’re not familiar with typical flight prices to Hawaii from the west coast, they’re usually well above $500. Read: THIS IS A VERY GOOD DEAL.

We recommend booking through Expedia and selecting weekday departures, and there aren’t any parameters regarding trip length, so it can be as short or long (we recommend loooooong vacations!) as your schedule allows. This fare typically includes a layover, so don’t be too disgruntled about that—just remind yourself that an hour in spent in SFO is well worth it, when considering your final destination. (In case you forgot: Hawaii! Hawaii!) Note: We’re linking out to the main Expedia page, from there just fill in your departure/arrival cities and dates, and voila, this price will filter to the top the results page.

Grab your floppy hat, stack your beachy bracelets, pack your flattering one-piece and envision yourself on a sail boat charter along Maui’s breathtaking coastline, drinking a crisp Chardonnay while you spot sea turtles and muse about how this was the best $361 you’ve ever spent.

THE DEAL: $361 flights from major west coast cities to major Hawaiian airports
