Here's What Hollywood's Most Rock n Roll Stylist Keeps In His Dopp Kit

You might recognize his salon before you recognize his name. Celebrity hairstylist and groomer Daniel Alfonso’s West Hollywood space was featured on an episode of Vanderpump Rules. But apart from styling the SURvers, Daniel's the go-to guy for Jonah Hill, Wilmer Valderamma and more. And when it comes to what's trending in the land of men's grooming, Daniel definitely has his finger on the pulse.

“It’s so diverse,” says Alfonso. “Guys are doing everything and the lines are being blurred. Men are coloring their hair, doing it short on the sides and long on the top, doing undercuts. Beards are also still really popular, whether it’s a Game of Thrones style or just a 4-o’clock shadow.”

He points out that beards are so popular because they work on literally any face: “If a guy does a full beard, you can contour it to any face shape. You can actually change the shape of his face by going in and trimming certain areas, which makes it really versatile—and good for guys who want to look like they lost a few lbs!”

Daniel is also a rising social media star who has a killer YouTube channel where hundreds of dudes tune in to catch what he’s up to. “We’re here in L.A. and we see trends all the time,” he says, “ but for guys outside of L.A. who need inspiration, it’s a cool way to get it instead of randomly approaching some dude on the street. I love doing videos in the salon—I want people to feel like they’re sitting in my chair.”
