How Meghan Markle Stays Chic During Frequent Travel: 2 Actually Useful Tips (and a Dumb One)
When you're finished rolling your eyes, there's utility here.
Anyone who's ever tried to even walk a straight line — let alone try to look remotely attractive — after a long-haul flight might feel turned off by celebrities' tips on how to look chic while jet setting. They have so many resources as well as genetic gifts that mere mortals do not — and sure, those factors contribute to making it look effortless when it's actually really hard.
Well, Meghan Markle, Prince Harry's American actress girlfriend, has no problem staying glamorous and regal during her many transatlantic trips. And we'd characterize one of her stated tips for doing so as disposable in the way that celeb tips can be — and two others as downright useful.
"I know it’s easier if you’re taking a red eye to wear your pajamas — just don’t do it," she told Good Housekeeping. "You can still dress really comfortably." Just don't do it. Great, thanks. We stand behind the no-pajamas approach, but our alternate strategies don't always seem to make us look magazine-ready, especially after endless hours of recirculated air and timezone crossings.
So what else ya' got, Meghan? "I also always bring a great cashmere throw to stay warm, but look polished.” Fair point: A warm, clean throw is a reasonable investment toward keeping cozy without extra bulk or weight, while also staying hygienic, on a plane.
And her last tip is worth seriously considering too — it's an approach possible at any price point. "I try to dress monochromatically," she said. "If you wear all black you can look a bit more polished."
Invest in a sophisticated blanket, wear black. We can actually do those. (Prince Charming, are you out there in the not-so-friendly skies?)
