Katy Perry's New Buzz Cut Was Inspired By The Most Unlikely Celebrity
The look was lifted from a sci-fi thriller.
As the temps start to creep up, so do celebrity hair lengths. (That's our version of a weather forecast, anyway.) Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez both recently chopped off their locks, revealing breezier looks suited to warm weather. And now, Katy Perry has joined the short-hair-don't-care squad. But instead of getting a shoulder-length cut, Katy took it a few steps—er, inches—farther.
Working with stylist Chris McMillan and colorist and dpHUE creative director Justin Anderson, the singer-cum-shoe-designer got a platinum blonde buzz cut. The new look is even shorter than the Miley-style undercut Katy showed off just a few weeks ago.
But, Miley isn't the celebrity muse for the "Chained to the Rhythm" singer's new look. Katy wrote "fifth element flow" next to a snap of the new 'do, presumably referencing Bruce Willis's blonde, buzz-cut-bearing character in the sci-fi film of the same name. (See the resemblance?)
For the record, Bruce isn't the celebrity toeing the party line for the edgy look. Zoe Kravitz also has a new, blonde pixie cut:
Could the buzz cut be this summer's lob? It's certainly getting a lot of—wait for it—buzz.
