Whoa! Nicki Minaj Just Unleashed an Epic Twitter Rant Against This Designer
This fashion feud has its own trending hashtag.
Nicki Minaj didn't always have it out for Giuseppe Zanotti. According to one of many (many) Tweets she directed at the shoe designer, Nicki first met Giuseppe years ago. And, in the words of Taylor Swift, it used to be mad love.
Not only did Nicki wear his kicks for a major photo shoot, she even name-checked the designer on Kanye's track "Monster." ("Monster Giuseppe heel, that's the monster shoe," says the verse, if you want to rap along nostalgically.)
Well, things have gone south since then. Remember when Giuseppe told Nicki he'd like to name a shoe after her? It seems that the designer did—23 shoes, to be precise.
But since he put out the "Nicki" collection, Giuseppe hasn't been in touch with Nicki herself. (Um, unless he means another Nicki?) The rapper alleges that she hasn't been paid a cent, and—worse—Giuseppe's peeps won't even take calls from her PR team.
Nicki, of course, will not take this sitting down. The artist developed a custom hashtag for her beef with the designer, #GiuseppeWhatsGood, and asked her loyal fans to help make it a trending topic. (Spoiler alert: It quickly became one.)
Nicki's also asked Giuseppe repeatedly to #RunMeMyCHECK, though she claims the issue isn't really about money. This is about respect!
And, after a few more statements on Nicki's behalf, it seems like the Tweet-y wheel gets the grease. Giuseppe Zanotti has since removed all the Nicki shoes from its site.
Nicki's placidly smiling emoji in that last Tweet seems to sum up her current feelings on the matter.
