Rihanna Just Dropped a Shoe Line with Manolo Blahnik

We won’t tiptoe around today’s big news. Rihanna has a new shoe line, and it’s called Denim Desserts by Rihanna. We’re kind of wrapping our head around the name (desserts? Feet? Give us a moment), as well as this week's bedazzled denim sensation. But, there’s no doubt that the eye-catching footwear, which is in stores today, has a serious pedigree.

First, as creative director of Puma, Rihanna is no stranger to designing footwear. But for this line, Rih Rih teamed up with someone she first met through an old friend of all of ours: Carrie Bradshaw. The singer told Vogue that she first fell in love with Blahnik’s work when she spotted his classic pump, with a brooch on the front, while watching Sex and the City.

So, a while back, Rihanna’s team reached out to Blahnik’s, and it wasn’t long before the duo was holed up in a studio, sketching thigh-high denim boots with stiletto heels. Check out their little budding romance, as well as some of the amazing craftsmanship, below.

Fun fact: Glittering crystals are hand-stitched along the shoe’s hem, and the pattern of the bling mimics the tattoos on Rihanna’s wrists and hands. Crystals also add some glitz to the denim ankle boots and strappy sling-back heels.
