Rose Gold is The Hottest Hair Hue For Fall

But proceed with caution: this trend isn't for everyone.

By Aly Walansky

If you love blonde hair—but also have a thing for pink, a trending color may be just the thing for you. Fall is the season of change, and what a better way to begin than with a new hue?  "This color is a combination of copper and gold, creating a peachy-pink tone thank makes you look soft and feminine," says  Lauren E. Hack of Lauren+Vanessa. "The lighter your hair color is, the more translucent and iridescent the color will look."

"Rose gold is truly a cross between a strawberry blonde and a very soft copper gold blonde together,” explains George Alderete, Keune Haircosmetics North American creative ambassador. “It’s not too warm and it’s not to cool. It’s for my clients who say, ‘I don’t want any warmth.’” Alderete recommends rose gold for clients with light porcelain skin and green hazel or grey eyes.  “As the rose gold trend is evolving, I love using it as one shade of a dimensional color to soften up the look,” he adds. “That allows me to incorporate it for many more clients, as it’s natural enough but neutral enough."

Rose gold revisits us this fall as one of the hottest trends we will see.  "Much like the coveted Granny Grey trend, rose gold can be allusive and difficult to attain on many hair types and textures. In order to achieve a pale rose gold, which is the trendiest, you must first lighten your strands to a very pale blonde," says Lorean Cairns, founder of Fox & Jane Salons.

Another thing to consider is that the actual rose gold color is generally applied as a gloss, and a gloss pigment lasts between 3 and 6 weeks depending on a variety of factors such as how often you shampoo, which products you use, and the health of your hair. "Rose gold compliments those who are prone to warm hues, honey and golden tones. Keeping this look rooty by leaving a bit of your natural color at the base is an easy way to let your gloss fade and keep your commitment minimal," says Lorean. "This color is perfect for you if you are comfortable getting a refresher at your salon every four to six weeks, and you are comfortable pre-bleaching your locks to acheive the goal color," says Lorean. What can we stay? Staying on-trend isn't always easy.
