Should You Be Contouring Your Forehead?

Hey, Bella Hadid does it.

By Jenny Berg

Bella Hadid's go-to makeup artist, Vincent Oquendo, is a font of fascinating beauty tips. Recently, he let us in on exactly why he has his gorgeous client pull down her pants to have her makeup done (sadly, it's not as juicy as it sounds.) Then, he opened up about how he gets Bella's forehead—yes, forehead—to look so darn good in photos.

Bella's not the only superstar to routinely sit in Vincent's hallowed chair: he's also worked with Olivia Culpo, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Ashley Graham. Since his famous clients are photographed so often, Vincent knows to countour their faces in an unexpected place: that's right, the forehead.

In an interview with Elle, the beauty pro explained: "If you're getting photographed, even with sheer foundation, when the flash hits it, it'll flatten out your forehead and you'll look like you're wearing too much makeup. So if you warm around the hairline it gives you the depth, because not everybody is all one color." Good to know!

This isn't the only odd place contouring pops up, by the way. Hair countouring, a trend that started about a year ago, is also a thing. The technique plays up the shape of the face with strategically placed highlights and lowlights, and Olivia Palermo is just one celeb who's on board.
