This ‘90s Mall Store Is Back, and It's Bringing Bandage Dresses Back Too
Rhinestone-studded tees may be trending next.
After shutting down all of its stores this past April, mall icon Bebe is ready for its second act. The chain is making a comeback online, InStyle reports, and Bebe enlisted a squad of Instagram influencers to give it a dose of cool this time around.
Bebe's 2017 social media It-Girls for its new campaign are Jasmine Sanders (a model/influencer known as "Golden Barbie"), singer Pia Mia, model Inka Williams, and actress Herizen Guardiola. These ladies have over 8.5 million Instagram followers if you tally them all up. That's a lot of eyes on Bebe.
But what about the fashion? Bebe's reboot embraces current trends like off-the-shoulder tops and floral maxis, but some of the looks are channeling the '90s and '00s trends of the brand's heyday. Does this mean bandage dresses are coming back? Are we ready for that?
Bebe's even hinting that its infamous rhinestone logo tees are coming back too. "I remember when I was so young seeing the classic 'BeBe' diamante shirts on almost everyone older than me," Inka told InStyle. Hey, '00s fashion is creeping in again and even Vogue was reminicising recently about those shirts.
Inka and Pia teased their Bebe connection back in June, wearing logo-ed out Bebe gear.
Bebe's betting that a new generation will turn to the brand for going-out tops and sexy clubwear, just like old times.
