Newsflash: You do not need chauffeurs, private jets, or a hefty bank account to travel in style. OK, yes. All those things help. But glamourous travel is a mindset. And we all need to get back into it!
I am not sure why and when we decided pajamas and a stuffed animal around the neck were acceptable travel wear. Look around at an airport and all you'll see is a bunch of people who look like they are getting ready to binge-watch some Netflix.
Do you remember when people dressed up to get on planes? I do. They did it out of respect. They did it because planes are amazing. You are sitting in the sky. Being able to travel is a luxury and should be celebrated!
Try to remember that the next time you go on a trip. Maybe dress up for the occasion. And definitely invest in some nice luggage that will make you feel fab and excited about the amazing journey you are about to take.
Here are some lovely pieces that our favorite celebrities have been toting around lately. You can (if you can afford to) opt for the splurges. Or, just be inspired by them and go for the steals!
The Classic Trunk
Splurge: Goyard Steamer Suitcase
Marion Cotillard has one. Coco Chanel had one. If you are the type of person who believes French women do it better, this is the luggage for you. There’s no doubt that traveling with a trunk is super glamorous. Unfortunately, you might need to refinance your home to pay for this particular piece.
Steal: Vince Camuto Loma Hardside Spinner Luggage Collection
Luckily, not all trunks are made to crush the wallet. And if your intention is to simply own some nice, lady-like luggage, this should totally suffice. We also love all the gold detail.
The Modern Trunk
Splurge: Bric’s Belaggio v2.0 21″ Carry-On Spinner Trunk
This particular white-and-tan model is the current luggage of choice among travel bloggers — and Jessica Alba. This thing is so precious, they sell protective sleeves for it. You know, because nothing says regal like luggage that requires its own bodyguard.
Steal: Delsey Chatelet 21” Carry-on Hardside Spinner Suitcase
And, here is almost the same exact look at less than half the price. Maybe people won’t be so fussy with this version. It is, afterall, just luggage!
The Sturdy Case
Splurge: Rimowa North America Topas Silver Cabin Multiwheel IATA 52
This is a popular one amongst stars like Martha Stewart because of its James-Bond-like sleekness and super durability. It’s the ultimate designer gear designed to protect designer gear.
Steal: Gabbiano Luggage The Genova Collection 3-Piece Upright Spinner Set
This is a good option if you want something modern, but for a fraction of the price. Here you get three pieces for a third of the price of one. Can’t really argue with that.
Splurge: Away, The Bigger Carry-On
One of the key features of this Karlie Kloss-owned piece is something that will probably be a built-in feature for all luggage in the not-too-distant future: USB plugs. Yup. Right in the luggage. That way, you can stay fully-charged on the go.
Steal: Traveler's Choice Smart USB Port 20" Expandable Spinner Case
This suitcase serves up that technology — and is currently way on sale.
The Designer Style
Splurge: Louis Vuitton Suitcase
A little bit showy but we all secretly want one. Besides, if you're dressed as chic as Sarah Jessica Parker, nothing less will do!
Steal: American Flyer AF Signature 4-Piece Luggage Set
Unfortunately, some of us can save for years and still not be able to afford a Louis Vuitton keychain. Luckily, this set is a pretty good stand-in if you really want that iconic monogram canvas. Dash through the airport fast enough — like you’re running away from paparazzi — and nobody will even be able to tell the difference. We swear!
