How Not to Look Like a Leprechaun: A Guide to Dressing Cute on St. Patty’s Day

Being that I’m nearly 100% Irish (and I have the freckles and reddish hair to prove it), I love me a good St. Patrick’s Day celebration. Bring on the green beer, bring on the rowdy pub crawl, I’m all in. But you know what I don’t love? The tacky dress code that comes with the holiday. Like Santacon before it, the masses turn out for St. Patty’s Day—and rightfully so!—and they show up wearing striped tights, giant leprechaun hats, “Kiss Me I’m Irish” t-shirts and worse (I’m looking at you green feather boa). Which isn’t to say I begrudge anyone for getting their holiday spirit on. I’m happy for any and all who are fully participating in the day of the Irish. But the humongous leprechaun hat just isn’t for me.

So here I’ve rounded up a bunch of fashion-friendly options that can sedately tell the world you’re pro-Irish this St. Patty’s Day. Comfy and cute-as-can-be, these must-haves are perfect for throwing back some Irish Car Bombs and dancing an Irish jig—hey, if you decide to speak with an Irish brogue all night, more power to you! The best part is that you can actually wear these pieces again and again (instead of shelving them in your closet til next March 17!).
