Cameron: "Fashion is for Everyone!"

The "Switzerland of Fashion" hunts for Melissa McCarthy's fashion-forward Oscar dress.

By Cameron Silver

I call myself the Switzerland of Fashion and Decades is the United Nations of Fashion. I really try to like everyone (although my humor is often too dry for many), and I like everyone to feel like a movie star at Decades. Truthfully, if you walk the streets as if there is a red carpet at your feet, you will shine just a little more bright. When I was given the opportunity to dress Melissa McCarthy for the Oscars, I was excited about the challenge and thrilled to work with a nominee who really loves fashion. However, I was given the shortest period of time and Melissa and I had numerous phone conversations and email exchanges before I could begin the creative direction for her big night. Melissa studied fashion, so she can talk the talk and walk the walk, too! Her inspiration was goddess, blush colors, soft, and chiffon, and a little sparkle. After pulling tons of inspiration from books, magazines, and the store, we figured out the DNA of the design and hustled our booties. Every morning FedEx arrived with fabric swatches and sketches. I was constantly on the phone with Elizabeth and texting with Melissa.

I firmly believe that no matter your size or your age, everyone deserves to feel sexy. I am honored that I contributed to Melissa feeling amazing on her big night. She told me it was her favorite dress she ever wore, and I am proud that we succeeded in translating her vision to the red carpet. As the Switzerland of Fashion and founder of the United Nations of Fashion (Decades), I decree that fashion is for everyone! The democratization of the red carpet and glamour is my political platform, and Melissa McCarthy is proof that every woman is a goddess!
