The Shirts Off Our Backs

Cameron Silver explains the lengths his team goes to to make his clients happy.

Well, welcome to the wonderful and wacky world of Decades and Dukes of Melrose. It's been a bumpy journey to get here, but I am so happy to share with viewers the INs and OUTs of the Decades experience. Decades is more then just the four walls of our Melrose institution or the closets of the rich and famous. Decades is about being unique and solidifying one's place in fashion history. Over the course of the next 12 episodes, we will take you to Paris to go vintage shopping and see a haute couture fitting, go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual Costume Institute Gala, and hang out with Jennifer Tilly, Nicole Miller, and experience the genius of Phyllis Diller in her last TV appearance. Plus, see me curate an exhibition of Rudi Gernreich, one of the great designers of the 1960s and 70s; and go on a slew of red carpets. It's going to be glam.

You've met our Motley Crue and I work very close with my right-hand Jarred) who has been with me for 15 years) and my Albanian princess Eri. I trust Jarred with my life but would never ask him for sartorial advice. In contrary, Eri oozes style... so much so that she has to undress to dress actress Rachael Harris for her exciting Independent Spirit Awards of which Rachael is nominated. Now that's devotion. Eri didn't just take the shirt off her back, she took off her dress, too!

Contrary to popular belief, Patricia Kennedy does not appear in every issue. However we researched her GIVENCHY couture gown, and I was delighted to learn it was actually designed by the late Alexander McQueen during his brief tenure as the GIVENCHY creative director. The gown is actually quite historic as it was the last look shown on a runway during Mcqueen's tumultuous employment and is extreme collectible and valuable. I love the Decades team and I like to make everyone happy and laugh. The more fun the crew has at work, the more we sell. I hope you enjoy getting to know me and Christos. We are so different, but ultimately we wish to achieve the same thing: make the world a better place one dress at a time. It ain't brain surgery, but it is satisfying.

Decades isn't all caviar and champagne dreams.  Fashion is hard work. However, we hit the jackpot, the Benjamins come rolling in.... Enjoy!

Love

Cameron
