Amid Separation News, Jeff Lewis Reveals Gage Edward Moved into a Hotel
After living like "roommates" for months, the Flipping Out pair has decided to go their separate ways.
The end of a relationship is never easy, and one of the hardest parts for cohabitating couples during a split is figuring out the living arrangements. Today, Jeff Lewis announced the sad news that he and his longtime partner Gage Edward have decided to separate, and they're already living apart.
"Gage actually moved out of the house last night, so he went into a hotel," the Flipping Out interior design pro revealed during his Radio Andy show Jeff Lewis Live on Thursday, January 31. Jeff went on to explain that he and Gage had "been in separate rooms for a very long time" and in their home it felt "kind of like a roommate situation." According to Jeff, "somebody had to rip off the bandaid" and make a move: "Yesterday, [Gage] had said to me, 'look, I would like to stay [in our home] in the guest room.'" But Jeff knew that living situation would never make him happy: "I just kind of said 'let me stop you there. I understand what you're saying, but that arrangement doesn't work for me.'"
Jeff continued, "So last night he left, and I hope he gets the clarity and perspective he needs."
Still, the dad acknowledges that there is still hope for the future: "I'm not throwing you out, I'm not breaking up with you. I'm here," Jeff recalled telling his partner of 10 years with whom he shares daughter Monroe. "You need time and space to get perspective."
