Stunning Area Rugs Inspired by Carson Kressley and Thom Filicia's Genius Design Trick
The Get a Room design stars change everything with gorgeous rugs.
If there is a moral to this week’s Get a Room with Carson and Thom (tune in Saturdays at 10/9c!) it would be this: Sometimes all it takes to tie things together is a rug!
The team’s most recent design makeover challenge sends them to Montclair, New Jersey, to a gorgeous neo-Classical, Greek Revival home that kind of makes us want to stop what we’re doing and head to Zillow to find one of these big old houses for ourselves! The only problem is this lovely abode is so pretty that it has given homeowners Nicole and Charbel a case of “design distress” as Thom Filicia puts it. They’re too afraid of messing it up so instead are living with empty, unfurnished rooms with a myriad of paint swatches marring the walls. The job of the team is to strike the right balance between modern and traditional or “moditional” as Carson Kressley phrases it.
And that is exactly what the design duo does, giving the rooms an updated classic vibe that is just right and, in the case of the dining room, choosing a stunning area rug to mesh a sleek modern table with more traditional architectural motifs. The result is something that would not look out of place on the cover a magazine, and Nicole and Charbel are totally floored (no pun intended!).
We were so inspired that we rounded up a selection of rugs that would look great in any space — but most especially in our Montclair dream home!
