Carson Kressley and Thom Filicia Nailed Family-Friendly Design with This One Item
For the Get a Room with Carson & Thom duo, it's all about avoiding injury while looking good.
It’s every new parent’s design dilemma, how to modify the interior living environment so that it is functional and above all safe for the baby without making it feel like a padded cell? Brooklyn homeowners Johnny and Sebastian faced just this conundrum on this week’s episode of Get a Room with Carson & Thom (tune in on Saturdays at 10/9c!). After marrying and bringing home little Vaughn, the couple realized their living space needed a more thoughtful approach. Not only was it rife with so many nondescript furnishings that co-host Carson Kressley deemed it “very witness relocation,” but it also had a cluttered layout and too many sharp edges for a growing lad.
The team got to work, with the goal being to “give them a much bigger, more open space,” said Thom Filicia. And this involved softening up harsh edges. “Whenever you’re looking for baby-friendly, round is the easiest shape,” Thom noted. With that, the angular coffee table was quickly ditched. In its place came a large round upholstered one that was much more kid friendly, along with a host of other less pointy furniture. It was a win-win — Vaughn gets to enjoy his childhood without threat of household injury while Johnny and Sebastian gain some stylish parenting mojo, and everyone is happy.
Super impressed, we've rounded up a stellar selection of upholstered coffee tables that will give your living room some major design mojo too (and not endanger your children).
