Do You Have a Throw Pillow Obsession? Then You Need to See This
Modular couch brand Burrow has released an extensive line of pillows, and they’re incredible.
Confession: I’m a throw pillow hoarder. I seriously can’t get enough of them. My living and family room couches and chairs are lined with various sizes, each of my kids’ bedrooms has age-appropriate ones, and even my entryway bench is home to a seasonal rotation. What’s this mean? Well, for one, that I’m constantly, constantly on the lookout for new ones. Plus, it means I’ve become something of a throw pillow expert, and know where to buy them. While I’ve bought dozens from Home Goods, I struggle with the feathers always popping out of the covers. It’s annoying and uncomfortable, not to mention messy. I also love Target’s price points and patterns, but dislike that the covers don’t zip off.
So when my go-to couch-in-a-box brand Burrow announced that it was rolling out an extensive line of pillow covers and inserts recently, I was thrilled. Available in a variety of sizes, textures, and patterns, the line is broken down into “collections” (i.e. “rustic” or “industrial”) that you can purchase in a bundle (which includes two square pillow covers, one lumbar, and a throw blanket), or you can piecemeal purchase.
Upon seeing the options, I was all in, but you gotta test the product before you can really be sure, am I right?! So, I ordered a slew of the pillows from various collections. Once they arrived, I put in the Burrow inserts (which you have to order separately) and set them around my living spaces — and now I can safely say that these puppies are amazing. First off, the inserts are the best I’ve ever had. Comprised of a polyester microfiber fill, these inserts give off just the right amount of simultaneous fluff and support.
Next up: The covers. Burrow hand-weaves each of its pillow covers in India, and the proof is in the pudding — these are durable and beautiful. If I had to pick favorites (and clearly I have some), I’d say you can’t go wrong with the Diamond Pattern, the Geometric Circles, and the Ivory Embroidered. The 18-inch by 18-inch size of the square pillows are big enough for an adult male, but also look great when accented by any over-sized pillows you might have. The Essential Collection options are also fab. I love the two-tone color options they come in. For a pop of texture, I highly recommend the Faux Fur (or, as my kids call it, the Yeti pillow), or the Fringed Chevron, which I worried would be grandma-y, but isn’t at all! As for the blankets, this is hands-down the best throw you’re going to get for $79. Given my product-testing background, I’ve sampled a lot of throws, and Burrows is the heaviest, thickest, and softest I’ve ever experienced under $100.
More good news: Since I last reviewed its modular couch, Burrow expanded its furniture line to include a chair and ottoman, and it's now offering the seating legs in three hues (black, dark wood, and light wood). Just like their counterparts, the chair and ottoman are easy-peasy to put together, and the cushions are flappable — you can choose between tufted or solid. Looking to buy an entire room’s worth of quality furniture for under $2,000? This is how you’re going to do it.
