Your First Look at Invite Only Cabo

If you're headed to Cabo with Gabrielle Union's hairstylist, trust that he'll pack all the essentials to keep your hair red-carpet-ready. In fact, toting around heavy kits—those dryers aren't light!—and hopping transatlantic flights is part of the job description for Larry Sims, the celebrity hairstylist who will appear on Bravo's new show, Invite Only Cabo. It's also what caused Larry need to need a vacation in the first place!

Larry's in love with his craft, but it's not always easy. "The long hours are taxing on your body," the former backup dancer shared with The Lookbook. After dancing, the multi-talented stylist started his career as an assistant for Ken Paves—who tends to Jessica Simpson's flaxen tresses—and has gained a steady stream of celeb followers since starting with a bang—or, a bob. "[Victoria Beckham] needed someone and Ken wasn't available, so he sent me," Larry recalls. "I was able to work with her to give her the bob, and the rest was history."

Indeed, Larry hasn't stopped snipping A-list locks since." When I'm on set with Gabrielle [Union] for Being Mary Jane, we shoot 16-hour days," the stylist reveals of his current day-to-day sitch. "There have been several times with Gabrielle, Mary J. Blige, and Lupita Nyong'o, where I've flown from Los Angeles on a red-eye to New York, then come right back to LA that evening."

What makes Larry so in-demand? He names his modern aesthetic and razor cuts as the kryptonite that keeps clients coming back. Jut ask Kerry Washington—"she's one of the girls that rocks my razor cuts the most," Larry shares.

For summer 2017, Larry names textured hair and shorter cuts as major trends. "Women aren't afraid to give themselves a big chop," he said. "I'm also not seeing a lot of polished, finished hair. I think hair that has been slept in for two to three days has always been the best, and I'm seeing a lot of braids, whimsical textures, and people going off the beaten path in terms of what traditionally works with hair and style. It's refreshing!" Catch the premiere of Invite Only Cabo on Sunday, May 14 at 9/8 c. And rest assured: there will be plenty of refreshing hairstyle inspiration.
