Adela King Designs Boots That Will Make Your Husband Insecure

These over-the-knee styles did not come to play.

While Paris is buzzing over these disco-ball boots, London is obsessed with another pair. Adela King, the Ladies of London pal who's been described as "bright" and "sparkly," designs her own line of high-end kicks.

Released at the end of last year, Adela King London shoes were immediate hot sellers. "Customers have [already] come back for a second pair, and they say they’re incredibly well-made," the designer told The Lookbook, just after the launch.

And Adela is glad for the brisk business. "I love the fact that it’s come at this time when I really needed to do something," she said candidly. "I need to support myself and I need to support my children. It’s important for me to support my children and not rely on anybody else. That’s my main goal in life, and if I can achieve that, then I will be the happiest person in the world."

It wasn't—as one might assume—a fondness for fashion that got Adela started in the industry. Au contraire, darlings. "I don’t love fashion. It’s a ruthless world. It’s incredibly cutthroat and there’s a lot of hormonal women in it," she told us. "It’s not fashion I love. The thing I love is I’m passionate about something that fits me well." And, okay, she'll admit to getting a few butterflies from a particular style of boots. "I love over-the-knee boots. I’ve always loved them. I think they’re really sexy."

And, trust her when she says that her boots are the sexiest. "They elongate the legs. They fit like a glove. The use of fabric, the colors, are just breathtaking. When you put them on, every single girl that tries them on says, oh my god, I feel sexy in them,” she vows. "One of my friends came to me and said, my husband feels really insecure about it. It’s that kind of a thing."

What does one wear with such smouldering boots? Adela likes to keep it simple. "At the end of the day I’m just a jeans and t-shirt girl. Everybody knows me for my white v-neck t-shirt and jeans. I will throw on a coat or whatever or glam it up, but I’m happiest in jeans and a t-shirt." Reporting by Laura Rosenfeld
