Is Gigi Hadid Showing Off Armpit Hair or Is It Sweatshirt Lint? The Internet Is Deeply Divided
Her makeup artist even weighed in.
We're noticing a trend with Gigi Hadid's modeling projects this month. First, there was her steamy weight-lifting themed shoot for fashion icon Carine Roitfeld's CR Girls 2018 calendar. That's just the beginning of her sports-inspired projects: Hadid is back again for fashion magazine LOVE's annual December advent calendar. All month long, the magazine's been counting down the days until Christmas with a supermodel video for each day. This year's theme is sporty — Kendall Jenner already channeled Rocky Balboaearlier this month — and now Hadid's glam exercise video just hit YouTube.
In the video, a perfectly made-up Hadid shows off her volleyball and kickboxing skills, along with an adorable Tommy Hilfiger bra and bike shorts combo. There's one more thing: is Hadid rocking some armpit hair while modeling those powerful poses? A debate that is truly one for our times is currently waging on Instagram over Hadid's pits.
Some commenters that says Hadid is making a statement by skipping shaving, a la Miley Cyrus. "It's arm pit hair, and it's amazing that they did this with such mainstream model," one wrote, while another fan writes: "I love this one! She looks beautiful and YES normalize female body hair." Another said: "Every women has body hair even supermodels!!!"
Then there's the camp who think it's actually a lint issue. One said: "I think it’s from the blue sweater she had on first and fuzz?"
Another said: "That's not hair. That's cotton fr[om] the jacket."
No word on the shoot yet from Hadid herself, who is on a social media break at the moment. Hadid's makeup artist Hung Vanngo for the video did weigh in on the debate, however. Here's what he told a commenter on his Instagram: "It’s from the sweat & the dust of that building." Hey, he was involved in our other favorite bizarre 2017 beauty controversy: whether Selena Gomez actually had freckles or not. Forget the armpit hair for a moment: Hadid's impressive moves in this video are absolutely inspiring us to add boxing to our New Year's resolutions list.
