Wait, Is THIS How Often Blake Lively Gets Her Hair Cut?

This reminds us: we need to call our stylist.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' Best Couple Looks

Though it seems like Blake Lively's lustrous, shiny blonde strands were placed individually into her head by singing mermaids, the truth is this: no one's hair looks that good by magic. And as it turns out, even the most genetically blessed celebrities put in a fair amount of time to keep their tresses in tip-top shape.

Lively's go-to hairstylist, Rod Ortega, recently chatted with W about how to treat hair right in the wintertime. One of his tips: getting trims regularly.

According to Ortega, the best tools to save hair from cold-weather damage are: "great shampoo, conditioner, a mask, and a haircut every six to seven weeks for dusting and shaping. You also need great hair tools: a blowdryer and straightening iron, those are the basics."

Sure, that seems like quite a few haircuts. But Ortega reasoned: "You can go two months if you want but three months and your hair starts to become brittle. Go in there and have your stylist do a mask and get it shaped. It’s maintenance like doing your manicure, pedicure or eyebrows."

When it comes to washing the hair, however, Ortega believes in a bit more of a lax schedule. "Second-day hair is always the best," he advised. "You could also go three days and put dry shampoo at the roots."

When asked about working with the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants star, Ortega was hard-pressed to name a favorite look. (Can you blame him?) "I don’t know if I have a favorite," he said. "To me it’s like a yearbook, like, ‘Oh, we did this that year.’ As far as texture-wise, I think we’ve really established the Blake Wave. Waves work really well with her hair. A lot of people know her as having those waves." He added that the "classic look" could work on anyone.

The stylist also made a prediction for beauty trends in the year to come. "It’s all about healthy, glow-y, movable hair, whether it’s a short pixie or down to your bob. [2018] is the year to breakout and just have fun," Ortega said.

Our prediction? The Blake Wave will never go out of style.
