Meghan Markle Shows Her Baby Bump in a Slinky Dress... and Breaks yet Another Royal Style Rule
All eyes were on the pregnant Duchess of Sussex's outfit — and her baby bump.
As the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle is expected to follow a very specific set of royal fashion and beauty rules, even some that seem downright arbitrary. But hey, the rules are meant to be broken, right? Before her wedding, Markle stepped out for an evening event in a very sleek pantsuit instead of a gown, and she didn't always wear the expected pantyhose. The stylish royal has also been slow to give up her favorite hairdo, a messy bun, instead of the “perfectly kempt hairstyles" that Kensington Palace prefers royal women to wear.
During Markle's surprise appearance yesterday at the British Fashion Awards to honor her wedding dress designer, Givenchy's Clare Waight Keller, Markle wore a slicked back bun with not a hair out of place. All good on the royal style front, except for one thing: her dark manicure. Royals are expected to wear natural or muted nail polish (like Essie’s “Ballet Slippers”), because the Queen reportedly thinks colorful nail is polish distracting, according to People magazine.
Well, Markle is proving that short black nails can be extremely chic and perfectly polished (pun intended). Especially when paired with a classic black one-shoulder gown and gold jewelry.
Not to mention a glowing smile and that baby bump.
