Lauren Manzo Scalia Shares the Low-Carb Items in Her Trader Joe's Haul
Caroline Manzo's daughter reveals the Trader Joe's items that fill her cart.
Lauren Manzo Scalia is holding off on traditional gnocchi, at least for the moment. In late September, the Manzo'd with Children alum shared that she's following a new eating plan that emphasizes protein and doesn't leave room for excess carbs. So, when the salon owner last hit up Trader Joe's, she found some plant-based alternatives for classic Italian snacks.
Showing the inside of her freezer in an Instagram Story, the toddler mama said: "I've definitely changed a lot in the last couple weeks. [My trainer] Darren is right — meal prep is extremely important. But for those days that I'm not able to meal prep or that I need something real quick, if I'm noticing I'm not getting my [macronutrients] in certain ways, I got a bunch of frozen stuff." She also needed something that would appeal to her mom.
Noting that she was going to cook dinner that evening for Caroline Manzo, Lauren shared a peek at her Trader Joe's cauliflower and kale gnocchi. "If I do it in an air frier, it will totally be in my macros," she said. "I want to keep the fat as low as possible."
Zooming in on some frozen cauliflower pizzas, Lauren shared that she'd had the veggie-packed pie as a late-night snack. Her haul also included red peppers, which she planned to use in a "macro-friendly" dish of turkey-stuffed pepper boats.
