Dr. Heavenly Kimes Opens Up About Flipping Houses With Her 19-Year-Old Son
The Married to Medicine dentist explained how she feels about teaming up with her son to flip properties.
Dr. Heavenly Kimes is thrilled to see her son Zachary following in her footsteps. "My baby boy Zachary is a go-getter. He's in college right now. He's pre-med major and he's intelligent, he's well spoken. Zachary took an interest in real estate at a young age because he saw me do it and he got his real estate license at 19, just this year," she said on Married to Medicine's March 28 episode. "I'm so proud of him."
While Zachary has learned a great deal about the real estate industry already, as he worked with Heavenly to buy and flip their first investment property together, she made it clear that she still has plenty more to teach him. When Zachary explained that he was interested in purchasing a property that was more than double the budget Heavenly had set, she quickly shut the idea down, explaining, "You can't go from 150,000 [dollars] to 430,000 [dollars.] Do you not know we're on a budget?"
As Heavenly explained during the episode, teaching Zachary about real estate is a way to help him succeed financially in the future. "I think that it's important to teach our children how to build generational wealth because you teach a man to fish, he fishes for a lifetime," she said. "So I think it's the same thing with your children. If you teach them rather than just giving them, they'll learn from their mistakes and they'll have that knowledge for a lifetime."
In July 2020, Heavenly gave her Instagram followers a peek at the lake house the mother-son duo seemingly purchased, writing "If I knew at 19 everything I know now! I’d be light years ahead...Teaching my son how to flip properties early."
