Josh Flagg Revealed a Surprising Fact About His Late Grandmother's House
The Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles agent shared his family's connection to a unique piece of Hollywood history.
When Josh Flagg settled in for a movie night on August 3, the Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles agent saw a very familiar setting on the screen. "Just watched [HBO's] 'Behind the Candelabra' with Matt Damon and [Michael Douglas.] Part of the movie was filmed at my grandmothers home as well as the home of Zsa Zsa Gabor," he wrote on Instagram. "That’s Michael Douglas playing Liberace. And no that was not her TV…it was a prop."
While he didn't specify which of his two late grandmothers the home belonged to, Josh's paternal grandmother, fashion mogul Edith Flagg, passed away in 2014, and his maternal grandmother, Marjorie Platt, passed away on July 11 due to complications from coronavirus (COVID-19).
Josh has taken to social media to pay tribute to Platt in recent weeks and recently made an incredible discovery while he was researching her online.
"I just happen to be googling my grandmother today and the first photo that came up was a photograph I’ve never seen," he wrote in an Instagram post. "The photo is on getty images and I read the description of the photo, it reads…Mrs. Herman Platt and friends discuss Vista Del Mar charity fashion show event at the home of Mrs. Nathan Hiatt (daughter of one of the Warner brothers). This photograph was taken in 1952. I continued to read the caption and it listed the address of the home. The address seemed vaguely familiar at first glance. Then I did a double take and realized the address is mine and Bobby’s home in Beverly Hills. 68 years later, here is a photograph of my grandmother sitting in our living room."
Josh announced the news that she had passed away with a touching tribute on July 15.
"RIP. The Queen has passed. When I was a little boy, I was fortunate enough not only to grow up with amazing parents but also with two sets of incredible, fabulous, and wonderful grandparents," he wrote. "My grandmother Margie Platt passed away this past weekend from COVID-19 at 98 years old. Margie was not only an incredible person but also a true role model."
