The MDLLA Agents Explain Why It's So Hard to Sell Modern "White Box" Houses
The MDDLA cast members are sharing their strong feelings about this popular home style.
Though the Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles agents may have very different tastes when it comes to real estate, there’s one type of home that they all agree they could stand to see less of: the “modern white box” houses that have popped up all over Los Angeles in recent years.
While appearing on the Million Dollar Listing After Show on Instagram, the cast opened up about why this style of home isn’t exactly their favorite. As Tracy Tutor explained, the market has become oversaturated with these trendy houses, making the listings easy to price, but harder to sell.
“The contemporary box, which we all talk about on the show a lot, has just become so repetitive,” she said.
Fredrik Eklund agreed, stating, “When something works and there’s a few price records set, everyone kind of like tries to build the same thing. And a lot of those, to me, are soulless.”
David Parnes also chimed in on the influx of contemporary-style houses, stating, “People want homes, they don’t want to live in a house. There’s a big difference between a house and a home.”
But Josh Flagg, whose love of historical and old-fashioned architecture has been well-documented on the show, may have the strongest feelings about the modern design. Learn what he tells his clients about this type of home, below:
