Tracy Tutor Opens up About Why Selling Her Home Was "Really, Really Challenging"
The Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles agent discussed moving on from "a big chapter" spent in her former abode.
Throughout Season 12 of Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles, viewers have watched Tracy Tutor prepare to sell her home of more than a decade. Now, the powerhouse agent is opening up about the emotional impact of leaving the 11,000-square-foot abode following her divorce from Jason Maltas.
“I was in the Carmelina house for 10 years and I had a big chapter of my life there. I birthed my children there, I had a marriage there and it was really, really challenging for me to face the fact that it was time to move on," Tracy said in an interview with Cheddar. "But I do believe in, you know, not sitting in things and once you make the decision and you jump off that fence and you land on the other side, you really do feel at peace."
During the interview, Tracy also offered advice for sellers facing a similar emotional decision to move on from their homes. "You have to, as a seller, hand it over to your broker. Take the emotion out of it because if you can't, you're not going to be able to get through the process with any kind of certainty," she said. "I always say to sellers, 'Look, if this is an emotional thing for you, I completely understand it. I'm going to do the best that I can to walk you through this.'"
She added: "That's my job: Sometimes I'm a therapist, sometimes I'm a friend, sometimes I'm just the broker, I'm their financial advisor, I mean, you name it, we do it."
On MDLLA's June 23 episode, Tracy discussed her difficult decision to sell the house. "My divorce is finalized and Jason and I share custody, so I only have the girls 50 percent of the time. We all need a fresh start," she said. "So I'm looking forward to this new adventure and I think the kids are too."
Still, Tracy knew she was leaving behind an incredibly luxe property. "My f--kin' house is dope," she said with a laugh on the same episode. "We wanted to put our stamp on every single room in the house, so we put in custom lacquer paint, I changed the stone on the [custom] bar, I did mirrored inset ceilings... [and] all my light fixtures are shipped in from Europe or different show rooms that are vintage lighting stores in New York City."
