Céline Dion Is Still Not Ready to Date Nearly 4 Years After Her Husband's Death: “I Miss to Be Touched”
"The romantic love is not present," Céline Dion said.
After Céline Dion's husband, René Angélil, passed in January 2016 following a battle with throat cancer, she revealed that he was the only man she had ever been with sexually and the only man she had ever kissed.
"I'm still married to him," she told CBS News later that year.
So it perhaps shouldn't be too surprising that the singer now says that she is still not ready to date nearly four years since his passing.
"I don't date. I'm not ready to date," she told TODAY. "I'm very lucky and happy to have so many people in my surrounding to make me — they make me laugh."
She does feel the absence of romance and physicality in her life.
"But I miss to be touched," she admitted candidly. "I miss to be hugged. I missed to be told, 'You're beautiful.' I miss what a boyfriend and I miss what a husband would do."
And while it's not a current priority for her to date, she is trying the never say never attitude on for size.
"I keep my soul and my heart open," she said. "Because I am so much [about] love, you know — with my fans and my children and my family. And I feel that love, and it keeps me going. But love, love, love, love, love — the true love, the romance, the romantic love — is not present. But it's OK."
