Leah Remini Made Her Sister's Ex a Part of Their Family After He Was Kicked out of Scientology: "We Feel Blessed to Have You"
Leah Remini shared the news on William Kilmartin's birthday.
Leah Remini left Scientology in 2013 and has been outspoken about the controversial religion ever since, which she says has led to celebrity practitioners literally running away from her at events.
"It's really sad to watch it, you know, because it's like I really don't mean them any harm, but I know how they feel," she said on her most recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen (clip above). "I remember how I felt when I saw people who I was taught and brainwashed into believing were the devil, and so it's sad to see them react to me that way where I'm like, 'I'm me. I don't mean you any harm. I want you to do well in life, I promise you.'"
Now, the actress has shared that she's accepted her former brother-in-law back into her family since he decided to make an exit from Scientology.
"Wishing you a happy birthday too @williamkilmartin!" Leah wrote in a sweet Instagram photo post that includes a shot of William holding a "Certificate of Family Membership." William was previously married to Leah's sister Shannon from 2008 to 2017, when their divorce was finalized.
"I know this day is hard for you: you lost your mother (Rest In Peace), and then when you left the church of Scientology, the rest of your family decided to disconnect from you," Leah continued. "But you are a part of our family now, and we feel blessed to have you. We love you!" (Scroll through the pics in the post below to see.)
Leah is surely a compassionate ear and support system for William, and it's great they have stuck together despite it all.
